We booked character dinning at mickey's grill. It felt like we got an extra half day of Disneyland. Especially since Marianne's favorite part of Disneyland was the characters. Beth finally smiled at at character here too. The breakfast was decent and it was so fun seeing all the characters in a more low key environment than it is at the Disney Park.

Then we check out of our Anaheim hotel and drove to Carlsbad and checked into the Homewood Suites there. Which was the best decision ever. It was nice and large with rooms for kids and a kitchen, a pool and also provided breakfast and dinner. The kids swam while Bethany napped then we headed to the beach. I have never been to such a great beach in the United States. It was clean and warm. We hadn't even brought our suits because I've never been to a US beach that you would want to get in the water in the evening because it is always too windy- but this was amazing. The kids got soaking wet and played in the sand. Marianne almost got swept out to see, and Beth got topped by a wave too- which were both funny. It was really beautiful and amazing. And everyone was cover in sand. Our only regret of the trip was not scheduling more time at the beach. I was there too despite there not being even one picture of me there.
