Pumpkins

After growing all summer and taking up our entire side yard we finally pulled up the pumpkins today. Last night froze our garden- which is likely because our sprinklers were running for some reason. We are not too sad though, It is almost Halloween, and we have been harvesting 30 or more tomatoes a day still. Our pumpkins didn't have a chance to get orange really, but they were large enough in size to please our little two.

Things I've Been Up To

I haven't been taking the normal mass amounts of pictures of the wee ones this week.
I guess I have been doing other things.
That makes for a lack of blogging here.

Instead of photo journaling my children's every move
This is what I have been up to.

Harvesting this out of my garden

Remaking this bookshelf

And doing some portrait work

Having Fun

Life has been crazy busy lately.
Work, kids, yard work...
I'm in charge of young women's camp Monday through Friday of next week.
Jake is in charge of Scout Camp the following Monday through Saturday.
That is taking its fair share of time to organize.

Plus we can't seem to say no to a social event or friendly dinner. I think we have been out 4 of the last 5 nights until almost 9:00... usually with very tired kids.

Today we are just having fun.
No errands,
no play dates.
no projects,
no dinners, (out I mean, I WILL feed my family dinner)

Sam's activity of choice. Playing in Mud. ( He had literally been out of a tub 3o minutes when these pictures were taken)
Kate's activity of choice. Cooking with Mom.

I have decided to wear sweatpants all day too.

Memorial Day Weekend Part 1

Memorial Day Weekend is a success so far and it is only Monday morning. Lets start off by sharing these adorable pictures of Samuel eating a cookie and rolling on the floor laughing. It is not the cookie he is laughing about, it is that he is so exhausted after playing all day with two little boys we watched for some friends.

Jake built and launched a rocket on Saturday. The kids all thought it was neat. Funny enough on the 1st real launch I corralled our children plus the extras we were watching onto the stairs and in my lap so we would not get hit with the rocket, and somehow the rocket was angled just right so it flew over our heads, spilled 2 liters of water all over us and we didn't get to see the rocket flying about 100 feet up.
Don't worry we tried some more and managed to not get wet those times.
Kate flies the rocket through the air.

Kate and Crystal making silly faces. Kate made hers all by herself and searched all through her craft box just to find the last two googly eyes because she wanted real eyes.

Working in the garden. We put the last of the starts in the garden this morning. Hopefully we are freeze free from here on out. Though we moved the garden this spring so we could have a bigger plot it is still not big enough. I have plants way to close together. It is going to end up like a jungle in there, but oh well. We have ten tomatoe plants, 4 zucchinni plants, 4 pumpkin plants, 8 peppers plants, 4 potatoe starts, 12 pea plants, 5 green bean starts, 8 corn starts, 5 garlic plants, 10 strawberry plants and about 50 onions all successfully growing at this point. I am looking forward to making and canning delicious salsa, Kate keeps telling me she is going to eat all that healthy food.
