29

Yesterday was my dear husbands birthday. In honor of his 29 years here are 29 great reasons you may not have thought of to think Jake is great. Don't worry I wont smear mushiness all over this blog.

1. Because 29 things would never be enough room to say all the truly great things about Jake, hence the silliness.
2. Because he always will drive around until we get a good parking spot if it is cold
3. Because he will always eat the leftovers out of the fridge.
4. Because he has this silly dance... some of you have seen it
5. Because he can fix anything.... many of you have called him for this purpose.
6. Because he loves ice cream so much he could eat it everyday
7. Because he is smarter than a fifth grader, or most adults for that matter and surely would win us lots of money if he were on any game show, perhaps his fav. the Family Fued.
8. Because he hates fish, just like me and love mac and cheese- the box kind
9. Because he started saving for retirement at age 17- i mean who does that!
10. Because it takes him 15 minutes to do something that would take me an hour to do
11. He has the best voice, not just singing, but speaking, strangers even tell him so
12. He never gets frustrated with poor customer service
13. He will buy me flowers even though it is against his principles
14. He makes Saturday chores fun
15. Because little things make him so happy
16. Because he has the super hero powers to read my mind, though he still wont admit it
17. Because of his muscles..... in college my waist was half the diameter of his arms, now either I had a little waist, or he had huge biceps, okay we were young and probably both were true.
18. He would choose to shop around Home Depot for Date Night
19. Because he laughs out loud at television
20. He takes great pictures, I mean of course he does have you seen his smile
21. He has a mean ping pong serve
22. He likes to bowl and even has his own bowling shoes
23. Because he has such perfect teeth
24. Because his hair is all different colors, brown, red, and blonde
25. Because he always wins at scrabble- or any other board game for that matter
26. Because he finds it unfathomable to pay more than $10 for a shirt
27. He can wing anything, and it will turn out perfectly
28. Because he will dress up as anything I tell him to for Halloween
29. Because be always smells like bar soap

I love you Jake, you truly are such a wonderful person and spouse! Hope your birthday was a good one. Thanks for sharing one more year with me.

I am, I am, the Luckiest

So I have never been that lucky, in fact I would say I was unlucky. I never win anything. I enter contests and drawings not even minding that I will probably get a lot of spam, but I don't win, I don't even get the spam. When I was in high school I got hundreds of free raffle tickets at an event because I got bit by the python they had at the "petting zoo " and still didn't win anything at the raffle. I entered a blog contest just the other day, just for a cake pan that only like 53 people entered and didn't win. Anything that can go wrong often does, and once one thing goes wrong, everything goes down hill. I am not really pessimistic, I just am not very lucky. Well all that changes today folks! 101.9 The End had a text in and win contest this weekend. On the way to the Terry's on Friday I text in a few times to win. I am not good at texting and it took me a long time to get it to work. Jake thought I was wasting my time. But somehow out of 18,600 entries, 3 people won Ben Folds Tickets and one of them was me!!! Can You believe it. I hardly can!!! I am so excited! Jake and I love the Ben! I am sure you will hear all about it on after April 23 when the concert takes place!!! If I was smart and wasn't so excited I would have saved them as a birthday suprise for Jake, but I was too excited and already called to tell him. I am not sure what is more exciting, the tickets, or the fact that I actually won something!

Easter Pictures

We were busy bunnies this Easter Weekend. We started with a Pre Easter get together with friends Scott, Travis and Alison where as you can see we created some one of a kind eggs. On Saturday, Jake and I hit the slopes for the last time this season. Our friend the Moose was on the slopes again as well. We did a lot of racing and ended the day early, and felt it was one of the best ski days we had had. Then we hurried home to have dinner with the Little's and their two cute little girls who came all the way up from Spanish Fork to see us . Kate loved playing with the older kids. Sunday we had dinner with the fam at my mom's house, kate played with the baby goats there, and finished the weekend off watching 101 Dalmations (a gift to Kate from the Easter Bunny) and napping in the living room. Can I mention here - you know you are a mother if 101 Dalmations makes you cry. I mean who wouldn't the puppies get kidnapped. I didn't take Kate's Easter picts in her cute dress and everything yet. I am hoping to do it in a few days with the cute on her nose, made by a hymn book mind you goes away. Maybe by then there will be some grass to take the picture on too. We hope you all had a great easter as well.

Happy St. Patty's Friends!

Kate is an Animal

Our little Kate is a climbing animal. She just wont stay off the stairs. We have put a gate up, and she gets all mad, and whines when she goes over and sees the gate is closed. She can't get down so she goes to the top, looks in her room for a minute then sits and whines for us to get her. Her favorite thing to do is go to the landing, and look down at us. I am not sure why she likes it, but it appears she wishes she were an animal in a zoo, because she sure like being in this cage of sorts. She will sit herself at the landing and entertain herself for a while, dancing and banging on the bars, laughing and trying to get us to tickle her through the bars.

How Does Your Garden Grow?

One of the projects on my list this week was to get my starts started, for my garden of course. I have not had a garden since we moved. In the Prov I had a lovely little garden where without a lot of work I managed to grow several varieties of tomatoes, squash, corn, onions, beans, peppers, and even carrots. With the ever rising price of produce, who can afford not to. But as you can see from the picture of where my garden patch should be, it is at the moment a blizzard outside. So my seedlings will have to wait patiently in the kitchen window for now.

March Madness

On the news this mornings, they mentioned that March Madness is just around the corner. My thoughts, I know why the call it March MADness. Say goodbye to your attentive husband, and anything you hoped to watch on television for the next several weeks. The only thing good that ever has come of this Basketball ritual, is that once I bet Jake a car detail based on bracket points and won. If you find yourself widowed to college sports soon you can give me a call and we can commiserate together. Here is to hoping the teams he is rooting for loose early on!

Spagetti!

Last week I made Spagetti. It was Kate's first experience with it. She seemed to like it, well playing with it at least. She made a huge mess though. I thought the pictures were fun.

Blades of Horribleness- is that even a word?

We went ice skating with Lisa and Rodney on Friday here in town at the outdoor skating rink. It was an adventure. Partly because the place apparently didn't believe in the zamboni and there was a lot of snow on the ice, but also because Jake and I are flat out horrible at this sport. We did have fun though. We finished the night with dinner and watching a movie. It was a real date. Thanks Lisa and Rodney for coming all the way to Heberlandia see us.
