This is not going to be pretty!

Let me start by saying I forgive you if you attended the University of Utah, if you have a love for the red and white, you may not want to read this..... or we might have a fight on our hands. Normally I reserve my mostly in fun rivalry towards the U for football season.... and even then don't really care, but I can see from this point forward I am going to be really pulling for the Cougs whenever they have a chance to smash those Utes. Yes this is going to be one of those posts mentioned in my "100th post" post...."mostly about Kate and things I am MAD about". If you live in Utah you have likely heard about the information theft that occurred with the University of Utah's medical records.... if not read about it here.
Basically somebody stole a bunch or personal information... SSN, DOB's, medical records etc from their patients. And sticking with the unlucky universe I face everyday, of course I was one of them. I was a patient there for my eye surgery last fall, not only did I end up getting some surgery that didn't work, and another specialist questioned it was even done correctly, and then when I was almost blind because of it they wouldn't call be back for weeks even though i called and left a message every day and then even though I couldn't even drive because the surgery caused so much scar tissue making things worse they wouldn't make me an appointment for three months until I practically threatened a malpractice suit.... now that one regrettable experience has turned into another. Not only is this claimingly "acclaimed" medical facility serving out unnecessary surgeries and poor customer service, now they are also serving my identity (which I work so hard to protect) to low lives and slackers ready to prey on my perfect credit score. What are they offering to correct this mistake. Well they sent me a letter dated June 16th 2008 informing me they are having a conference to discuss these issues on June 10, 2008... "information that could have been useful yesterday" and giving me credit MONITORING for a year. Thanks guys you really know how to right a wrong..... oh that is not what I meant to say... what I meant was... I think you treat your customers even worse than Home Depot.... if that is even possible.

This is a terrible story. I am so sorry for this predicament you are in. I think we might pull our luck from the same tree. This sounds like something that would happen to me. Once my moms car was stolen with my wallet (I know stupid) inside and a woman with my id and checkbook cashed checks at my bank (made payble to cash)to buy meth. They caught her on camera and her parents verified it was her and she had a meth problem. I was upset at first but now I just feel bad for that girl she probably is in jail now with no life and mine is pretty good, not perfect but good. So I am so sorry this happened to you. Mostly I am worried about the horrible health care you received though, very serious. Since I have no loyalty to a Utah School I will happily hate the UofU with you :)

What is going ON up there????? IDIOTS.

But it does make for some good blog fodder.

Yikes! I would be mad too. Hopping mad.

(But my pops did attend the U of U med school and he's a pretty fine doc, so I'm hoping your eye care is a tragic, unlucky exception.)

The identity theft and gaping chasm where customer service should have been is appalling too.

You should definitely cheer against the Utes from now on with a vengeance. That'll teach 'em. :)

Polliwog-
Is is possible your father's medical skills are the only good thing to ever come from the U of U? I do have a Kate bear to prove his excellence, perhaps twenty years have changed some things up there for the worse.

I love how you are the only one who loathes poor customer service as much as I. We should start a blog that rates the services of business? I had to wake up the clerk at babysrus today to make my purchase...oh well? Two thumbs down for the U.

I feel for you and especially appreciate the comment about Home Depot. I thought maybe it was just my local home depot, but now I know. Haven't had much experience with UofU 'cept one time while walking their halls (considering their nursing program)I passed out and got the biggest black eye of my life (needless to say, I decided against them).

I hear you about the U. I am sad to admit that growing up I was a fan of the Utes, but I have completely converted to the Cougars! Curtis brings the paper home for the U every once and awhile, and I can't believe that they are able to write the things they do! Curtis wishes everyday that it was the Y that accepted him into law school and not the U. But it is, what it is. I hope that everything turns out ok.

So Jake attended the U and he is still in the repentence process for such a sin! Which he will tell you he didn't like it. He also HATES Home Depot so when I told him about your post he couldn't agree more with your distaste for these establishments. I'm sorry to hear about your predicament. I hope nothing comes to pass with the low life that likes to make other people miserable ie. identity thieves.
