March 2016- Temple Open House

We went as a family to the New Provo City Center LDS Temple one frozen morning.  It was literally freezing!!!!  We had been looking forward to it for some time.  It was such a fun story sadly seeing it burned on the news, than hearing the announcement it would be turned to a temple.  The building holds lots of memories for both Jake and I.  His family visited it often as a kid.  When Jake and i were first married our Stake meetings were held in the building, and being close to our first home we would go to cultural events and concerts occasionally.  Jake's law school graduation took place here.   How confusing it might be to see the pictures of his graduation, he and I standing on the steps of this building for his graduation- all before it was burned and then restored into  a temple.
The story and message of what the Lord can do with burnt ruble and how that applies to us really resonates with me.  I also really appreciate that it got to be itself- it wasn't turned into a large white granite building with tall spires like many other temples, it was just transformed with a little trial and a lot of work and inspiration into the temple it is today.  Jake and I appreciated the history of it and the transformation.  The kids just liked going to see the temple.   It was a quick 30 minute tour and then we took the kids to breakfast. It was such a good reason to skip school and I love that we make it a family tradition to go and see the new temples when we can.
